What is your Superpower?

Picture
What is your SUPERPOWER?

While doing massage, a client sometimes asks – “Can you feel that?” (Their problem area; their tension spot; their pain points.) Or they ask “How do you know what area has the issue?” I have my responses, which are genuine, to which they then reply, “That’s amazing you can feel that”, or that I know where to look or that I know what their issue may be. My answer to their amazement is… we all have our gifts and mine is human touch. It is how I make a difference in someone’s life or day or my day or contribute to humankind. It is my purpose and how I thrive. It fills my happy meter.
It is my SUPERPOWER.

Now here we are facing another New Year. Woohoo!! But, how many of us put those expectations out? What are we going to  accomplish? What changes are we making? Big strides and big ambitions. And although it is fun and important to learn new things and expand our endeavors, let’s not set goals to perfect those endeavors in a short time. Or to have expectations to change who we are. Or make an objective of creating a whole new us.

Let’s embrace and acknowledge what makes us special.

What do you already do well?
What are you already accomplishing?
What are you already achieving?

I don’t ski. I am really bad. Like painfully bad. I also don’t build things. My measurements are not precise enough. It comes out lopsided. I like to sing, but there are no record producers signing me. I would like to learn to play the piano, but I have no expectations of selling out the Met. I love to bake. I love to take pictures.

I know human touch. I love to help people feel and function better. It’s my thing. We all have our thing. Let’s live in the moment of what makes us happy and fills us up. I say, embrace your passions, your gifts, your purpose and live there. Celebrate it. Share it.

So what is YOUR SUPERPOWER? Seriously, honestly, we want to know.

Ever want to escape...without going anywhere?

Picture
I'm a co-owner here at CW and sometimes ya just have to take one for the team.  When we have new services I try my best to try them out so I can really understand who it may good for and how to describe the service.

It's tough - but someone has to do it.  :-)

Well last week I tried the Zen XL Facial & Body Massage.

Now I have to find words for it.  This is hard because it was SUCH an experience....just wow.
But that's not enough.  Not nearly enough.
(BTW if you've met me you know speechless is not usually my issue, yet here we are!)

This is a 90 minute service with our super talented therapist Lori.
It is a full body massage combined with the Zen facial massage.  It has beautiful oils that are good for your skin.  It has a warm honey & brown sugar scrub.  It has Hot Towels on your face...and neck....and back.
And, And, And...

I was silent for 90 minutes.

I don't even think I was HERE.  This was an escape.
I literally walked into a room, closed the door and was transported away from all the STUFF of daily life.

Relaxed.  Pampered.  Void of all the thoughts and lists in my head.  There was just too many soothing things to feel to be thinking.

Then there was after.
My body was happy.  My skin....oh my....I am very upset with myself for not taking before and after pics.
The dark lines under my eyes were gone.  My complexion - color, tone, vibrancy - was 1,000% improved compared to looking tired, pale and droopy.

I looked alive again and I felt that way, too.

Clearly I still need to hone in on how to describe this - it's too good for words really.
So, who needs this experience?  Let's see...
If you need a break from all EVERYthing, if your body needs to feel better, if your skin and its appearance needs a refresh. THIS is for YOU.

Who doesn't need this?  I don't know. I don't know anyone who doesn't need this in their life.

If you have lived through the past 3 years - you deserve this and ya probably need it too.

These are a few of my favorite things...

Picture
These are a few of my favorite things...

My family has a lot of traditions. I won’t bore you with all of them, but know that many of my
memories come from family gatherings. Over Thanksgiving I was trying to spur some dinner
table conversation and asked, “What was your favorite Christmas gift you ever received?”
Have to say many of the answers were subpar. Were your gift givers lousy? Do you not
remember who gave you what? Or did you not commit special moments to memory? Or maybe
we process special moments differently – special people, special foods, special gifts, feelings,
smells, the weather, the place.

I have a few special gifts come to mind – the kitchen set my dad built for me, the bench my
uncle built for me, games, games and more games, the first holiday Barbie my husband tracked
down for my aunt to give me, the pillow and blanket Nanna made for each of us. Maybe you
noticed the theme here. These were all special because of the people who created, made the
effort, took the time FOR ME. Every year my mom would give me a new game and that New
Year’s we would play it until the ball dropped.

But beyond the gifts were the cookie baking with Christmas music, the red velvet cake and
homemade fudge, the exact same dinner every year, hosting the extended family holiday party,
hosting the New Year’s bash, Christmas caroling around the neighborhood. Not sure how my
mom didn’t combust, but it was her favorite time of year and she passed that to us.
Special moments, quality time, memories made, keepsakes forever. We have a few pictures (no
cell phones clicking away and posting.) But pictures are limited compared to the memories that
evoke feelings. You can almost hear the laughter, wrapping paper ripping, the parade on TV.
Smell the baking. Know it was cold that year it was a white Christmas. Hold those close my
friends.

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, my message is to be present in the memories being
made. It translates to any time and with anyone. Make the effort to be with family and friends.
Spend the time more than the money. These are the things that make memories. Make
traditions.

Thanks for another wonderful year from all of us at CW. You are in our hearts and we have
special memories spent with you.

Do you hear what I hear?

Picture
Do you hear what I hear?

One of my favorite Holiday songs is Do You Hear What I Hear? The version sung by
Whitney Houston with that voice of hers as big as the sea. I listen to it and my heart
beats a little faster especially towards the end when the music crescendos right at ‘he
will bring us goodness and light’. Music has a way of helping us to feel our emotions.

Think about it. How many times have you walked through the grocery store when one of
your favorite songs came on and instantly your mood lifted? That’s the power of music
or healing sound. It helps to lift us out of lower vibrations.

Our voices are sound that’s unique to each of us. Our own sound comes from the heart
and when you speak, your words are carrying that heart note in the form of vibration.

Imagine if all of our words were kind! We’d be walking through a sea of love. Maybe
that’s why we’re attracted to Holiday music. The high vibration themes are love, hope,
divinity, and peace. We sing or hum these songs and that frequency floats around our
beautiful globe, Mama Earth, reaching out and blending with other high vibration
sounds. And we feel a little better, lighter, dare I say, happier.

As you go about your life this Holiday season, I encourage you to listen for those high
vibration sounds that you resonate with, like, a familiar voice, a rhythmic purr, an
expressive tune, the chime of a bell, a crackling fire, even the silence of a snowfall.
You’ll know it when you feel it. Receive it as love and then send the love to someone
else.

May your days be merry and bright this Holiday season and may peace and love
surround you.
