#chronicwellness

There’s something that’s been on our mind lately. It’s a message you see everywhere you go. Grocery stores. Doctors’ offices. Pharmacies. Turn a page in a magazine and it’s there. Watch a show on TV and you’ll see a commercial for it: the latest pill to manage your…. diabetes, rosacea, fibromyalgia, high cholesterol, insomnia, and the list goes on.

The message is loud and clear: You’re sick. You’re going to stay sick. And the best you can hope for is to manage the symptoms of your chronic illnesses (because you probably have more than one) by ingesting a slew of drugs for the rest of your now slightly less painful life.

We beg to differ.

Actually, we’re not even begging. We’re flat out differing, and we want you to join us. We think the time has come to rewrite that script and tell a different story. A story that shifts the perspective from inescapable sickness to innate wellness. A story that honors the incredible power we have over our own well-being. A story that shifts the emphasis from chronic illness to chronic wellness.

None of this is meant to trivialize the experience of folks struggling with health issues, or to negate the potential helpfulness of traditional medicine. Our hope is that, wherever you are and whatever you’re dealing with, reconnecting with the wisdom of your body will help you reclaim the power you do have over your health. And that starts with how we chose to focus our thoughts.

To that end, each week in 2018 we will be featuring a topic that supports a focus on wellness. We’ll blog about it, offer tips, share info, and most of all, ask you to participate. We want your stories of #chronicwellness! Share your pics, thoughts, videos, ideas, and tag us at #chronicwellness and #cwquakertown. If you do, you’ll be adding your voice to a growing movement of people ready to embrace wellness as a lifestyle. And if enough of us do that, over time, the message we find in every store, office, and magazine will start to change. Oh, and you’ll also be entered to win a gift certificate from Complete Wellness. So, cultural revolution and prizes. That’s how we roll.

Stay tuned for Week 1’s theme tomorrow morning!
